Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. Her most well-known role was co-starring in the film of Prince's Purple Rain and for having been the main singer for the girl group Apollonia 6. It was among the many female artists who benefited from Prince's collaboration throughout the 1980s. Patricia Kotero, born 1959 in Santa Monica California began her career as an actress and model. In the late 70s she was a guest on CHiPS. In 1984, the actress was chosen to play the lead woman in the movie Prince's Purple Rain. (During this time period, she also changed her name.) She then replaced Vanity as a member of the female trio Vanity 6 who starred in the film with Apollonia 6 under their name. The trio scored a modest hit with Sex Shooter but it was in the role of Prince's duet partner in Take Me with You from the soundtrack that she made an impact on the charts. Kotero broke up with Prince after the two fell out over the future of Apollonia 6. Following her appearance in minor movies (and reportedly refusing to be a part on the Purple Rain film Under the Cherry Moon) She was cast in the 1985-1986 show on television called Falcon Crest. Apollonia had the opportunity to make her debut album available in the year 1988. Unfortunately, it didn't leave a lasting impression with music fans and soon faded from the scene. The singer was still active, though not under the spotlight, as an actor during the decade following with small film and television roles. Even an exercise DVD came out.
